Campus Backbone Network Maintenance on Sunday, May 30, 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

UCLA IT Services — Network Services will be performing maintenance to Campus Backbone on Sunday, May 302021, from 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Line cards 5 and 6 on core router at Anderson will be reset and the network traffic will be routed back to the core router at Anderson. No network interruption is expected during the maintenance as the network traffic is routed to redundant paths.

Campus DNS / DHCP Maintenance on Sunday, October 17, 6:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

UCLA IT Services — Network Services will be performing maintenance to Campus DNS / DHCP Infoblox Grid servers on Sunday, October 17, 6:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The campus Infoblox servers will be upgraded from version 8.4.8 to 8.5.3. No DNS / DHCP service interruptions are expected as the redundant servers will be upgraded one at a time.

Campus VPN Enhancements on Sunday, September 19, 6:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Description:

UCLA IT Services — Network Services will be performing maintenance to the Campus VPN on Sunday, September 19, from 0600-1300. An additional campus VPN (stssl.vpn.ucla.edu) will be implemented that will provide a split tunnel, encrypting only UCLA-bound traffic. The current campus VPN (ssl.vpn.ucla.edu) will remain in use; however, intermittent connectivity to the campus VPN service can be expected during the maintenance window.

Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA) Purchases due Mon Sept 20, 2021

UC's MCCA agreement includes the ability to make additional mid-term purchases with a minimum order volume. Orders for the  MCCA quarterly purchase are due by Monday, September 20, 2021. If your department needs to acquire new/or additional licenses under the MCCA at this time, please complete an ONLINE ORDER no later than Monday, September 20, 2021 by visiting the Software Central Store and signing in with your UCLA ID to place the order. Fulfillment by SHI will take place on October 1, 2021.

Important Changes to Email Accounts — Adding Authentication

On 8/20/2021, selected Office365 email accounts will be changed to use UCLA’s single sign-on (SSO) method of access.  Please note that this will require you to update configurations on your devices to make this change.    

New Box User Interface Coming July 1, 2021

Box is rolling out a new web user interface (UI) design to all Box users, effective on July 1st, 2021. The new web UI introduces an improved user experience that gives you the power to effortlessly organize, access, and work with your most important content. With the new web experience, a new organization feature called “Collections” will be made available to enable you to create and name private collections of content in your Box account, where you can intuitively organize files and folders that you own or share, and quickly find the content you need.

Campus Voicemail System Scheduled Maintenance, June 19-20

IT Services will be replacing end-of-life voicemail services and updating a software release. The campus voicemail system will be out of service on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, June 20, 2021, 6:00 p.m. During this time, callers will not be able to leave messages, and end users will not be able to access their voicemail messages. We know this will cause inconvenience and we appreciate your patience during this necessary upgrade.

Cognos Reporting Replacing Query Studio

With the upcoming deprecation of Internet Explorer in August, 2021, Cognos Query Studio is reaching its end-of-life. Fortunately, there's another feature in Cognos that you can use for ad-hoc report building called simply Cognos Reporting.
