Update on 9/13 Wireless Network Outage

Update: Around 9:10 a.m. today, our network engineers noticed a sharp increase in traffic, and were able to remedy it within 20 minutes.

Update: As a follow-up to the wireless network outage we experienced last Thursday, 9/13, IT Services has been watching network traffic patterns to identify any ongoing effects.  Around 9:10 a.m. today, our network engineers noticed a sharp increase in traffic, and were able to remedy it within 20 minutes.  The root cause of the problem is still under investigation; it seems related to a specific configuration of some access points, resulting in an amplification of traffic going through the wireless management connections.  IT Services is monitoring this closely to identify any remaining access points that require configuration updates to mitigate this problem.
