CIO Message | February 2024

Dear Colleagues:

As we progress through the winter quarter, I’d like to share the IT Executive Dashboard and a few notable highlights with you.

  • The Ascend 2.0 team is in the process of transitioning to the long-term support model for Bruin Buy Plus and is preparing for system integration testing of the new Bruin Finance solution with partners across campus.
  • In response to continued delays from the Department of Education, the FACET program has adjusted mainframe remediation plans to accommodate just-in-time testing, delayed training deployment, and hypercare to support staff operating on compressed timelines.
  • The HR IT Systems Optimization (HRITSO) program is completing final preparations for the system transition and end-user training for JDXpert and iCIMs—replacing the current PeopleAdmin system with modern, user-friendly HR solutions. JDXpert, the new position description system, will go live on March 12, and iCIMS, the new applicant tracking system, will go live on March 26.
  • A Google Workspace Service Adjustment BruinPost was sent on February 27 to the campus community with important details on containment quotas, photo storage, email limitations, and more.
  • Security Transformation is developing the Unit Information Security Lead (UISL) model to aid campus units in implementing shared cybersecurity priorities. Units can nominate a UISL or use an OCISO-provided UISL. Additionally, IT Services completed a cyber incident response exercise to enhance UCLA's cybersecurity preparedness of central campus services.
  • The Network Unification team continues to engage with IT leaders across campus on discovery activities to ensure the existing network is fully understood ahead of design.
  • Bruin Voice, as a follow-up to the softphone deployment, began installing the remaining physical Zoom phones in shared spaces, such as reception desks and labs, with completion expected by June 2024.

I look forward to sharing more of our progress with you in the next month.

Best regards,

Lucy Avetisyan
