Dear Colleagues:
To kick off the New Year, I’d like to share the IT Executive Dashboard and a few notable highlights.
- The Ascend 2.0 team went live on January 2 with Bruin Buy Plus, UCLA’s new procure-to-pay system and announced the significant milestone in a campuswide BruinPost. The team also hosted a Town Hall on January 23 to share updates on the BruinBuy Plus launch and the progress underway with the implementation of Bruin Finance.
- Network Unification launched a discovery effort to document the current state of all networks at UCLA locations. Additionally, we have begun engaging with IT Strategic Partners to gather data and requirements. This information will be instrumental in designing our future state network, ensuring it meets the University's collective needs.
- Security Transformation will conduct several focus groups with IT Strategic Partners to collaboratively develop a University Information Security Lead (UISL) Model which will help individual campus units execute shared cybersecurity priorities. The program team has also scheduled a tabletop exercise for cyber incident response to strengthen the University’s preparedness against cybersecurity threats.
- The FACET team has developed comprehensive training and established a support structure in preparation for the FAFSA Simplification, scheduled to go-live on our mainframe in February 2024. Simultaneously, we are making progress toward the future launch of Oracle's Student Financial Planning (SFP) solution, scheduled for the '25-'26 financial aid year.
- The Google Workspace Service Adjustment team is preparing to start communications in late February on the implementation of permanent baseline containment quotas on June 20 to comply with new Google limits. The team will continue to engage with the Google Workspace Advisory Committee to understand storage needs across various campus communities.
- The HR IT Systems Optimization program is currently focused on launching JDXpert and iCIMS, UCLA's new position description management and application tracking solutions, to replace PeopleAdmin. Both solutions are scheduled to go-live in March 2024. Several testing and user readiness activities are in progress.
I am looking forward to continuing to partner with you as we enter a new year of collaboration and progress.
Best regards,
