Dear Colleagues:
As we approach the end of July, I’d like to share the IT Executive Dashboard and a few notable highlights with you.
- Ascend 2.0 will be paused August 2. A dedicated task force will concentrate on BruinBuy Plus stabilization and will launch campuswide listening sessions to further inform their improvement efforts.
- The Network Unification program has entered the Design and Deployment Planning phase. This phase will leverage data gathered from central and distributed IT units to shape the future state network design and detailed deployment plans.
- The Security Transformation program is partnering with campus stakeholders to reach the first of three Trellix checkpoints, ensuring compliance with the UCOP Information Security Mandate. Next month, the program is launching a Security Advisory Committee with campus partners to enhance UCLA’s security initiatives.
- In response to stakeholder feedback following the implementation of permanent baseline quotas, the Google Workspace Service Adjustments team is creating a self-submission portal to re-enable Drive and Photos services, ensuring timely response for users. Notification to users exceeding their storage quota will resume once this page is live.
- The Canva team has updated the target student go-live to September 17 to align with the start of the academic year. Staff and faculty availability is pending finalization of ordering and fulfillment processes in collaboration with UCOP and campus partners. Further communications will follow.
- FACET completed the first cycle of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Bruin Financial Aid—based on Oracle’s Student Financial Planning. Additionally, the team has initiated a Change Leader Network to enhance awareness and prepare end users for Release 1, scheduled for late fall 2024, which includes the processing of Student Financial Aid data.
This month, we also introduce our new quarterly feature, the IT Services By-The-Numbers showcase, designed to provide you with insightful analytics and trends that reflect the impactful work of our IT community.
I look forward to sharing more of our progress with you next month.
Best regards,
