CIO Message | October 2022

 Dear Colleagues:

In keeping with my monthly commitment to you, I’d like to share the IT Services Executive Dashboard. To accompany our monthly status, I’ve collected a few notable highlights for you:

  • The LMS Transformation officially went live in the fall term for Wave 2 schools: School of Dentistry, School of Law, David Geffen School of Medicine (select programs), School of Nursing, and the Fielding School of Public Health. As support for Bruin Learn moves to steady state operations, the team is focused on transitioning the support function to the Bruin Learn Center of Excellence (CoE) and building out the enhanced IT Governance Model, including the new Bruin Learn Working Group, which will serve as the advisory body for the maintenance and advancement of Bruin Learn.
  • FACET Program Sponsors met with the Executive IT Governance Board to discuss Oracle leadership’s recommendation to engage a System Implementor (SI) for FACET, similar to other UC system schools. Approval was granted, and an RFP has been submitted to obtain proposals for an SI engagement. Responses are due by the end of the month, and a vendor selection is expected shortly thereafter.
  • The Ascend Procurement workstream moved to the build phase of the Jaggaer implementation, which will include system integration to all legacy systems (i.e., mainframe, DACSS, etc.) as part of the initial go-live. The Finance workstream finalized the overall project plan—including the budget and resourcing strategy. The official Financial Transformation program launch will commence with an All Hands meeting scheduled on November 7.
  • The Security Transformation program launched Cybersecurity Awareness Month for the month of October, with the larger Bruin Secure campaign scheduled to kick off in November. The team is also performing a campuswide asset assessment, including virtual, physical, cloud, applications, and other digital devices to inform a future state inventory classification program.
  • The HR Transformation team signed a contract to implement iCIMS, an all-in-one hiring platform, as UCLA’s new Applicant Tracking solution. The team is currently going through training with the vendor and finalizing the plan and budget with the goal of completing the project by fiscal year-end.
  • The Bruin Voice pilot group is set to migrate over to Zoom Phone on November 30. While the overall rollout will impact a total of 15K users, the team is working closely with IT Strategic Partners to schedule each campus unit into one of the staggered deployment waves.

As we move further into the fall term, I look forward to sharing more of our progress with you.

Thank you,

Lucy Avetisyan
