Action Required: New Logon Security Protocols to Access UCPath

Dear Colleagues:

In UC’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding and protecting your personal data, the UC Office of the President (UCOP) is introducing enhanced security verification for accessing UCPath beginning on December 20, 2024.

To enhance security and meet this evolving standard, UCLA Information Security is introducing Verified Duo Push.

What is Verified Duo Push?

Verified Duo Push is a security feature for UCPath logins that enhances multi-factor authentication (MFA). It requires users to enter a four-digit verification code from their browser into the Duo Mobile application. This ensures that only legitimate login requests are approved, reducing the risk of mistakenly accepting fraudulent login attempts.

What to Know

  • Starting December 20, 2024, the UCLA Information Security team is introducing Verified Duo Push through the Duo Mobile application for Duo Mobile for Android or Duo Mobile for iPhone.
  • If your current mobile device is not compatible with a version of Duo Mobile that supports Verified Duo Push, you are currently using a physical Duo token (e.g., Duo D-100) that generates MFA passcodes, or you are using phone calls or SMS passcodes to authenticate, you will receive a follow-up communication with additional instructions on how to prevent service disruptions.
  • Please note that the transition to Verified Duo Push will only affect access to UCPath; at this time, it will not affect all other UCLA applications.

What to Do
