As of Aug. 18, 2024, our records indicate that storage usage for your JoeBruin@ucla.edu account is 100gb, which is over your Permanent Baseline Quota.
Please disregard the following message if your UCLA Google Workspace Reporting shows that you are under quota — due todelays in Google reporting, it may take several days for your report to reflect recent updates.
Dear Bruin:
Your account is OVER QUOTA and requires IMMEDIATE REDUCTION to ensure your account is not impacted by future punitive action.
You are at risk of losing your Google documents, photos and mail.
Service Interruptions in Effect
All over-quota accounts are now experiencing service interruptions, which escalate in severity leading up to Nov. 1, 2024 (the deadline for campus compliance). Service interruptions include the following measures:
- Starting Sept. 3, 2024: YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DISABLED; you will be unable to log in to your Google account, including mail, and will need to contact the Help Desk for further assistance
- Starting Oct. 1, 2024: YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED, resulting in the LOSS OF ALL FILES AND MAIL — your account will be recreated with no access to any of your deleted files or mail
Regardless of quota level:
- Google Photos is disabled for all account holders
- Google Drive is disabled for all alumni and retirees
What To Do
To restore your service, you must reduce your storage usage to under your Permanent Baseline Quota. Take the following actions IMMEDIATELY:
- If you no longer have access, a two-week extension to access Drive and Photos is available by completing the Temporary Re-Enablement Request as follows:
- Alumni and Retirees: You may use this form to request temporary access to Drive and Photos to reduce data from these services before they are permanently deleted. Drive and Photos files should be deleted from your account even if you are under quota.
- All Other Accounts: You may use this form to request temporary access to Photos, as you already have access to Drive.
- Check your current storage usage. Confirm how much data you need to reduce.
- Remove files in your Drive application. Refer to How do I find the largest files stored in my Google Drive? for instructions. View the training video for a demonstration.
- Remove all photos in your Photos application. Refer to How do I download and delete photos and videos stored on Google Photos? for instructions. View the training video for a demonstration.
- Remove your largest emails. Refer to How do I find the largest sized emails in my Google Workspace for UCLA account? for instructions. View the training video for a demonstration.
- Empty your trash. All deleted files and emails go to your trash folder, and still count toward your storage usage until you permanently delete the from the trash.
- Connect with an IT professional. Email Help@it.ucla.edu to request personalized assistance as needed.
All over-quota UCLA Google Workspace accounts will receive regular email reminders until your account is under your Permanent Baseline Quota.
Best Regards,
