Dear Bruin Community:
Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce that beginning today, Monday, April, 7, 2025, all current UCLA students, faculty and staff will have access to a free Overleaf Professional account using their UCLA email. This software is made available to the campus through a licensed agreement, supported in partnership with the Graduate Student Association (GSA), the Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) and the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC).
With the launch of this initiative, UCLA is providing students, faculty, researchers and staff with access to Overleaf Professional, an advanced LaTeX and Rich Text collaborative writing and publishing platform. Overleaf streamlines the process of creating and sharing scientific documents, making it faster and more efficient.
This professional version offers enhanced features to support your academic and research work, including:
- Real-time collaboration in your web browser
- Faster compile time with extended processing duration before timeout for a smoother workflow
- Unlimited number of collaborators for flexible and seamless co-authoring and editing
- Live document preview for instant feedback
- Rich Text mode for those new to LaTeX
- Fast error detection for a smoother writing experience
- Publishing integration with academic journals, repositories and authoring services
- Advanced access control to manage protected projects
- Full project and document history for easy version tracking
- Priority support directly from Overleaf
- Git and GitHub Integration to synchronize your projects with Git repositories for version control
To activate your Overleaf Professional account, please follow these steps:
New Users
- Visit the UCLA Overleaf page
- Click Sign Up, then Log In with Institutional Single Sign-On
- Enter your UCLA username and password to create your account
Existing Users
- Log in to your existing Overleaf account
- Visit your Account Settings page and either:
- Follow the prompt to confirm your ucla.edu email by linking via SSO
- Add your ucla.edu email and link your account
- Refer to the Overleaf Campus Portal for instructions on requesting a refund
